Whenever a US company pays you a dividend, the US government automatically takes 30% right off the top before that money even hits your brokerage account. That means if you are entitled to a $100 dividend, you only see $70.

Over a decade of investing, that 30% "leak" significantly slows down your compounding. It is like trying to fill a bucket that has a giant hole in the bottom.

But there is a better way to generate income: Option Selling.
