I Wrote to Elon
and it worked!

When Elon Musk recently asked government employees to answer the simple question—"What did you do last week?"—it sparked quite the debate. Many dismissed it as unnecessary or even ridiculous. At first glance, I was skeptical too. But then I thought back to my time in government service.
Back then, we had weekly huddles where we’d outline our priorities for the week ahead and check in on Fridays to see how far we’d come. It wasn’t just about ticking boxes; it kept us accountable to each other and ensured everyone stayed aligned. Sound familiar?
As I reflected on Elon’s request, I realized there’s actually real value in this exercise. Think about it: Can you confidently list what you accomplished last week without hesitation? If Elon had asked me for five bullet points summarizing my workweek, I’m not sure I could have easily come up with three—let alone five. And if you’re running your own business like I am now, the challenge might feel even greater.
But here’s the thing: taking stock of your week isn’t just about reporting—it’s about reflection. Are you spending your time on tasks that truly matter? Are you moving closer to your goals, or are you stuck putting out fires all day (or worse, getting sidetracked by things that don’t contribute to your bigger picture)?
For entrepreneurs, freelancers, and professionals alike, pausing once a week to ask yourself, “What did I accomplish?” can be transformative. Without those structured check-ins, it’s easy to lose sight of progress—or lack thereof. So while some may roll their eyes at Elon’s approach, I think he has a point.
Inspired by this idea, I decided to hold myself accountable—and yes, I wrote to Elon. How about you? Could you write down three meaningful things you achieved last week? Better yet, would you share them with someone else to stay accountable?

Take a moment to reflect. You might surprise yourself—or discover areas where you need to refocus. After all, life’s too short to spend weeks fighting fires instead of building something meaningful.
And if you want to be more productive and reflective about your work, life and everything else, I shared my TOP goal setting method in this video for you.
