The headlines out of Caracas over the weekend have changed the game for 2026.

With the U.S. military operation and the capture of Maduro, we aren't just looking at a political shift. We are looking at a potential total "re-wiring" of the global energy market. Remember, Venezuela sits on the largest proven oil reserves in the world.

Here is how I’m viewing the implications right now:

• The Energy Shake-up: If U.S. companies (like the big oil majors) get a green light to restart and modernize infrastructure there, we could see a massive shift in supply dynamics. This could put long-term pressure on oil prices, but it's a huge tailwind for the service companies that will do the work.

• Defense & Geopolitics: This "show of force" reinforces the need for defense in the markets. It tells investors that the U.S. is taking a much more aggressive stance on regional stability. Usually, this makes the U.S. Dollar stronger and can create a "flight to safety" in specific sectors. (just look at gold prices)

• The Volatility Trap: Short-term, expect some wild swings. Low liquidity at the start of the year combined with "breaking news" headlines is a recipe for shake-outs. My advice? Don't chase the first green candle you see.
